City Boards and Commissions

City Council – composed of a mayor and four council members. Council members serve for year terms; the mayor, a two year term. The Council meets regularly on the first and third Mondays of every month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers.

Utilities Commission – The five member commission has charge of the administration, maintenance and control of the water, sewer and electrical utilities. Meetings are held at 7AM on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Economic Development Authority – The seven member authority carries out economic, housing and industrial development and redevelopment within the City of Mountain Lake. Meetings are held at noon on the third Monday of the month in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Planning and Zoning Commission – The seven member commission considers conditional use, variance, re-zoning and property division petitions, and considers amendments to Chapters 9 and 10 of Mt. Lake City Code. Meetings are held at 5:30 PM the fourth Monday of the month.

Police Commission – The five member commission monitors, reviews. and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding police department operations and functions. Meetings are held at 7 PM on the fourth Tuesday of the month in the City Hall Conference Room.

Library Board – The five member library board oversees library operations. Meetings are held at 4:00 PM the second Tuesday of the month at the Mountain Lake Public Library, 1054 4th Ave.

Lake Commission – The seven member commission works to stabilize, improve, maintenance and preserve the lake. Meetings are held at 6:30 PM on the second Monday of the month in the City Hall Conference Room.

Tree Commission – The five member commission works to diversify the species, ages and sizes of trees planted on city boulevards, parks and other public property, and assists the Mt. Lake Electric Department in the removal and replacement of trees that due to their location are a hazard to the department’s distribution system. Meetings are held quarterly at 8 PM the second Monday of January, March, July and October in the City Hall Conference Room.
