Chamber of Commerce

Advancing the economic and civic well being of the entire Mt. Lake Area.
Together We Prosper!

October 25, 2021

Dear Business Owner and Community Supporters:

It is once again that time of year when the Mt. Lake Chamber of Commerce wraps-up activities for 2021 and starts thinking about plans for 2022.

I would like to share with you some of our thoughts for continued operation of the Chamber of Commerce and the importance that each business within the community thinks about Chamber membership.  If you have been and plan to continue to be a Chamber member, we thank you very much! If you have never been or have not been a chamber member for some time, we hope that you will consider joining many other businesses as we work together to strengthen the Mountain Lake community.

A great chamber membership benefit is the City of Mountain Lake continues to allow the Chamber to have a part of the city’s web site.  Chamber members can promote their business through increased exposure.  Each chamber member has their own web page within the city’s web site complete with pictures, business description, links, and contact information.  Additionally, each Chamber member has access to their own page to update business information; sorry, no advertising.

Mt. Lake is a small, rural community with a strong but relatively small business base.  Because of this we do not have a very large budget to operate and put-on important community functions such as Pow Wow.  Staff positions are “shared” with the City’s Economic Development Authority which has allowed the Chamber to remain a viable entity.

Here is a list of the typical activities that the Chamber Board and Staff plan for and put on every year:

  • Pow Wow
  • Downtown Beautification Projects
  • Christmas at the Village
  • Christmas in the Park
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • Crazy Days
  • Sunflower Days
  • Chamber Golf Outing
  • Business of the Month
  • Yard of the Month
  • Chamber Coffee
  • Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies and “Presentation of 1st $2 Business” Certificates and Progress Awards

Mt. Lake has a very active Chamber of Commerce!  All activities are intended to promote the community and increase business opportunities for all businesses.

For 2022, the Chamber Board of Directors voted to increase dues by 5%.  For 2021, the Chamber Board of Directors voted not to increase dues due to the pandemic.  We realize that COVID-19 has impacted all businesses in some way – mostly negatively.  The dues increase for 2022 is necessary to ensure continued financial viability of the organization and will allow us to continue to provide the activities and business promotions that are essential to a community. Please be assured that the Chamber Board of Directors keeps a very tight watch over budget income and expenditures, and we make every effort to make up as much of the budget as possible with income from various fund-raising events. Also, we continually strive to attract new members through an ongoing membership drive.

In conclusion, please consider joining the Chamber of Commerce in 2022 if you have not been a member recently or in the past.  And, if you are a member, your continued support means a great deal to us and our community. We would be more than happy to visit your business if you have any questions about the role of the Chamber in Mt. Lake or about the membership due’s structure.

The attached dues schedule allows members to select a level that suits their business.  The chart below describes the benefits of membership at each level. Individual/Couple memberships are given a membership certificate.  Other levels are given a laminated certificate.
